Charlie Chaplin's "The Circus" (1928) - An Overview

The storyline during the film demonstrates this. Chaplin’s tramp falls in love with Merna, who returns his passion. Then, a tightrope walker named Rex (performed by Henry Bergman) comes on to the scene and Merna quickly falls in love with him. Why? Because his act is daring and unsafe although Chaplin’s clown act has considerably less prestige.
